In 2016 amongst other events the Friends held an Art and Antiques Auction which proved to be a tremendous success. In December we collaborated with the Creative Quarter to provide a much enjoyed Carol Service, the latter was so successful we aim to replicate it this December.

• FUTURE EVENTS

Thursday June the 8th we will be holding a ‘Home Front Evening’.

If you have never listened to the BBC radio 4 drama it tells the story of World War 1 from the perspective of those managing life in wartime Britain. The series started on August 4 th 2014 marking the centenary of the onset of the war and will continue running until 11th November 2018, the centenary of the Armistice.

Each twelve-minute episode tells a fictional story set against a background of historical truth with at least one historical ‘fact of the day’ built into each episode. Each episode follows one character’s day. Together, they build into a mosaic of experience from a wide cross-section of British society.

The series returns to Folkestone on Monday April 17th 2017 at 12.04 for a series of eight weeks. Each twelve-minute episode tells a fictional story set against a background of historical truth with at least one historical ‘fact of the day’ built into each episode. Each episode follows one character’s day. Together, they build into a mosaic of experience from a wide cross-section of British society.

Part of the ‘historical truth’ in this series will be the Tontine Street (Gotha) bombings and David Railton, the curate of St Mary and St Eanswythe.

The series editor Jessica Dromgoole will be joining us for a Questions and Answers session about the series and the music and singing, with audience participation, will be all taken from the period.

So –

Plan to, ‘Pack up your troubles’ for the evening and come and join us in the Church for a fun evening.
